AVON VALLEY RAILWAY

Restored by volunteers ‘The Avon Valley Railway’ is more than just a steam train ride, offering refreshments, shops and places to relax; to the south of the station is the famous Bristol to Bath cycle path – swap pedal power for steam and make a day of it – enjoy either ride. Special events are arranged throughout the year, such as: Courses on – ‘Learning how to drive a steam engine.’ Call talking timetable for details: on 0117 932 7296. Monthly Sunday lunch trains. Site entry is free, train rides are payable.

Late November is the start of the Bath Christmas Markets with over 150 stalls next to Bath Abbey. Many stallholders sell unique or handcrafted items, many of which are made in the local area with something to suit every taste or budget, from gifts, decorations and food items.

Spend a morning sightseeing round Bath, and then enjoy a couple of hours at the Thermae Spa in the hot mineral spa waters relaxing and unwinding. Bath has lots of local pubs/restaurants to choose from - either traditional pub food, Italian, Indian or Greek. For hassle free driving there are numerous Park and Rides on the out skirts of Bristol (it beats driving into Bath)
